Ashtanga Vinyasa

Ashtanga Vinyasa is a form of yoga that aims to completely transform the practitioner, physically, mentally, and spiritually. This practice combines breath, movement, and gaze to create a moving meditation that purifies the body, cultivates awareness, and focuses the mind.

The practice consists of six different postures, each with a set sequence of asanas (postures) linked together by vinyasas (movements that coordinate the breath with the movement). The series are typically taught in a set order, with each posture building on the previous one, and each series becoming progressively more challenging.

In addition to the physical benefits of increased strength, flexibility, and balance, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is also known to have a profound effect on mental and emotional well-being. Through regular practice, practitioners develop increased concentration, focus, and self-awareness, leading to a greater sense of inner peace and harmony.

Mysore Yoga

Tuesday’s - Friday’s 6:30 AM - 9:00 AM
Sunday 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM

The name “Mysore” comes from the city of Mysore in India, where Ashtanga Yoga was first developed and popularized by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Mysore Yoga allows students to develop self-practice, building discipline and commitment to the practice while receiving individualized guidance from a teacher. While the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga can be physically demanding, it is accessible to practitioners of all levels, as modifications and variations are offered to accommodate individual needs and abilities. The practice is often taught in a traditional Mysore-style format, where students work at their own pace through the series under the guidance of a teacher.

Heidi’s teaching approach is deeply rooted in the latest knowledge of anatomy, fascia, rehabilitation, strength, breath training, and many years of teaching experience. Her approach is highly individualized, and she offers personalized adjustments and suggestions to each student to help them practice in a healthy way that suits their unique body.

It is typically structured with a set sequence of postures, often starting with sun salutations, followed by standing, seated, and finishing postures. The teacher will guide students through each posture, focusing on breath, alignment, and movement.
